Relevance

One of the most foundational concepts of online learning is that each student, along with the instructor, has something to contribute. The content presented by the instructor (and students) must address the previous experiences of the participants, especially when dealing with adults who are pursuing lifelong learning opportunities. The sharing of these experiences adds a richness to the class as a whole that would not be available otherwise. Some have labeled this the meaning-making process.
