Responsiveness

While speed may kill when considering automobiles, lack of speed in online education will most certainly have the same effect. In online environments, the learning mostly takes place when there are student-instructor, and student-student interactions. I think many beginning online instructors may have the "correspondence course" model in the forefront of their minds when considering online learning. It is a remarkably different environment in online, and the responsiveness of the instructor to meet the needs and concerns of the students is crucial. This not only goes for course content, but technological issues as well.
